A New Generation at HOPE

We are so overwhelmed and thankful to God for His amazing Grace and Mercy on our children and ministry here. Our focus on teaching the children about Jesus is still number one after 18 years of working with the abandoned children in Eastern Uganda.

The first experience I had with the village back in 2005 is still reflected all over the world. That village was sacrificing children to Baal, the god of thunder and fertility cult that Elijah dealt with in Israel. Animism is still alive and well here and although the physical sacrificing of children may be rare - the emotional sacrifices are common. Some parents discard their children as an inconvenience and others abuse them in sick and detestable ways. Either way - the children are discarded and these are the children who are brought to us at HOPE.

Some of our children arrive at the age of 10 or 12 having never attended school or only attended 1 or 2 years. Most of them learn to read with us as we make Bibles available to them. Teaching them to love and care for each other can be a daunting task. But many of our children respond with compassion to their younger “siblings” at HOPE.

Many Bible stories are lived out in front of us as we teach the children to pray and seek God’s help for what we need. Last Sunday, I challenged the children to pray for the funds we need to pay their school. I reminded them that God has the answer already in motion but He desires our hearts to be fully trusting in Him and not in people we think are rich. We all prayed together and I am confident that the $8,000 we need for the schools will come in an unexpected way from an unexpected source so that we can only give God the praise and glory due His name :)! Judges 7:2

Blessings to you as you pray for God to be real and present for our children,

Phil
